I Love Commercials

Who doesn’t love Brian Huskey? No one. That’s who. The world loves Brian Huskey. The comic who has been in every great comedy and has done the brilliant Sonic ads, now brings us a family car that may or may not have its gas pedal get stuck and kill everyone inside it.

If you go to the Sienna Minivan Youtube page, there is also a series of internet ads featuring Huskey’s talents.

I almost overlooked this Teleflora ad. During the game everyone was talking so loudly, I completely missed Don Rickles tearing some shit up as the flowers. Oh, Don Rickles. You’ve still got it.

And in case you thought the other gentleman looked familiar, Evan pointed out that he was in this past week’s episode of Parks and Rec. I’m pretty sure he is Brendan Hunt, but I’m not positive. If anyone wants to correct me, I’d appreciate it.

Here is Bud Light’s new viral web video and it’s another success. People just love flabby guys in their underwear. It’s a fact of life.

If you’re familiar with commercials, you probably know a bunch of these guys faces. One of them is Regan Burns of Comedy Central’s defunct “Halfway Home.”

DDB is the team responsible for creating this internet gem.

This DirecTV commercial works for me on a couple of different levels. First I find that using a bank robbery where there is an actual explosion and the criminals seem to be pretty, well, criminal-y to be fairly daring. The heightened situation works well for the humor, but I feel a lot of ads would want to shy away from something like a bank robbery that might upset or offend anyone.

Also, two very talented actors are included in the commercial. One being Dule Hill from Psych (and GHOSTWRITER! Awesome!) as well as Alan Tudyk who was fantastic in Dodgeball and Death At a Funeral.

If I was to ever afford cable television, DirecTV has made a pretty great selling point in that they understand what makes commercials interesting so I’d be compelled to give them a chance.

The commercial is from Deutsch who we mentioned a few weeks ago with their HTC phone advertisement.

Nicorette’s latest ad campaign is banking on honesty, and that’s something I always appreciate. Rather than saying that quitting smoking with Nicorette will be easy, fun, and get you laid, they tell you it might just suck less.

It also helps that they used Derek Waters of Drunk History and a thousand other things fame.

From TBWA/Chiat/Day.

Wow. I don’t know of another commercial that seems to be going directly after me. First they include the gorgeous Cat Stevens song from Harold and Maude, and then they include some of my favorite SNL actors who I’ve spent years of my life watching. I was sold from the moment Chevy Chase prat drops the T-Mobile phone. If you’ve been watching Community, you know the guy has still got it.

The commercial is directed by Roman Coppola who was responsible for the Volkswagon commercials where the car interviews celebrities, and directed The Strokes video 12:51. Oh, and he also happens to be Francis Ford Coppola’s son.

Well, Target. You did it. Not only did you get Maria Bamford for your commercials, but you were able to use her twice. She’s like the Eddie Murphy of Target commercials. It’s just a shame that these ads will go away after the weekend.

Peterson Milla Hooks has been Target’s “long time agency partner” so I have to assume they were responsible for this series as well. Anyone know otherwise?

This is how you sell things. Put comedians that I love into my commercials. Ebay also has a few others from this series with Jim Gaffigan in them. I wonder if this is the same ad team that did the Sierra Mist commercials. I mean those worked. I only drink Sierra Mist. It’s like water.

Speaking of Sierra Mist, have they come out with their Cranberry flavor for Christmas yet?
